FAQs
for Board & Train Programs

Will I still need to train my dog after a Board & Train program?

Yes. During a Board & Train program, I take care of the time-consuming task of installing new behaviors so you don't have to start from scratch. You will still need to practice with your puppy or dog to maintain those behaviors at home and to build on them for long-term progress. Training is for life!

I just got a puppy or am about to welcome one into my home. Is a Board & Train program right for me immediately?

We can schedule the kick-off session at any time, during which we'll discuss your immediate puppy-raising questions and goals for the Board & Train program. The Board & Train program itself would be scheduled for when your puppy is at least 12 weeks old.

Are Board & Train programs only for puppies?

No. Adolescent and adult dogs can learn life skills for basic manners in a Board & Train program too!

My dog is uncomfortable with unfamiliar people. Is a Board & Train program still a good fit?

No. Board & Train programs are only for puppies and dogs who are happy interacting with unfamiliar people. If your puppy or dog is fearful of or reactive to strangers, please book a Behavior Consultation so we can address this concern first and foremost.

How many dogs do you take at one time?

I only take one dog at a time. Your puppy or dog gets personalized training and all my love and cuddles to themselves!

Do you offer options for fewer days?

The minimum for first-time Board & Train programs is 7 days, or 14 days if leash walking is a goal. I can accommodate shorter "tidy up" stays for returning clients.

I think my puppy is aggressive. What should I book?

If your puppy is growling, snapping, or biting at people (more than puppy teething and exploring), please book a Behavior Consultation. Aggressive behaviors are not common for very young puppies.

How does scheduling work?

To get started:

  • Click on the "Check Dates" button to see if the dates you're interested in are available.

  • Click on the "Intake Form" button to open the intake form for Board & Train.

  • Answer thoroughly each of the questions and submit.

  • I will review your submission thoughtfully and be in touch by email within 3 business days Monday through Friday. You will receive a booking link for the kick-off session where you can view all scheduling availability in real-time. Don't forget to check your spam folder.

What if I need to reschedule the kick-off session?

You may reschedule the kick-off session by notifying me via email at least 5 days before the scheduled appointment. If you notify me with less than 5 days advance notice, or are not present at the scheduled time, the appointment is forfeited. Due to the nature of my boarding services and limited availability for kick-off sessions, a new appointment may not be available for several weeks or months. All purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a Board & Train program?

At the time of booking, a 50% deposit payment is required to secure the specific days you book, and the remainder is due 7 days prior to the start of your program. Once a booking is made, those days are not available to others for Board & Train or VIP Boarding, and my availability for other services is affected as well. If you cancel the booking or wish to reschedule the days, these payments are forfeited. All purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable.
